Abstract
The aimed of this research was to find out the effect of Contextual Teaching And Learning In Increasing Students’ Reading Skill In Procedural Text. This research was quantitative research that collected the data by using pre – test and post test. Then, there were two classes in this research with total students in each class is 60 students. There are experimental class and control class. The students in experimental class were taught by the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) with REACT strategy. While, in control class the researcher used conventional strategy. Based on the students result in giving pre-test and post test, there was a significant effect of REACT Strategy towards students’ reading ability of the third year students at MTSN 03Pekanbaru. It can be seen from the students’ mean score between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of students before was given treatment was 67.09. While, the mean score of students after was given treatment become 80.32. In reference to statistically analysis that t-test ( tcalculated) was greater than the score of t-table (t-table) (8,063 > 2.000, at the level of significance of 5% for df 59. It means that alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected
