Abstract
Text The analysis of eight grade students' reading comprehension difficulties with descriptive texts helps improve teaching methods and academic achievement. It identifies areas of deficiency, enables customized instructional strategies, and enhances curriculum design, creating a more successful learning environment for struggling eight grade students. A study at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu at eight grade used tests to find out the students' difficulties in reading comprehension of descriptive text. The Triangulation method was used to measure perception based on indicators and was used to arrange instrument items in the form of questions or statements. The study focuses on students' difficulties in reading comprehension of descriptive text in eight grade at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu, focusing on students have lack of vocabulary, students have lack of background knowledge of the text, students don’t understanding reading comprehension and students have low ability in making inferences. The difficulties faced by the students are difficulty in answering background knowledge questions (55%), vocabulary questions (72%), understanding reading comprehension (40%), and making inference (105%). Therefore, the most difficult aspect faced by the eitghth grade students is reading comprehension of descriptive text is making inference (105%). As a result, most of the students had difficulty achieving the standard grade for reading comprehension test
