Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of financial ratios as measured by the liquidity ratio, leverage ratio, activity ratio and sales growth on financial distress in manufacturing companies in the basic and chemical industry subsectors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. during 2018-2021. The sample was determined based on purposive sampling method, the number of research samples was 16 companies. The analysis carried out in this study is panel data multiple linear regression analysis, classical assumption test, hypothesis testing and measured using the Altman Zscore and Zmijewski models. The results of research using the Altman Zscore model show that the activity ratio and sales growth have no effect on financial distress, while the liquidity ratio and leverage ratio affect financial distress. The results of research using the Zmijewski model show that the liquidity ratio and activity ratio have no effect on financial distress, while the leverage ratio and sales growth affect financial distress.
