Abstract
Riau Islamic University. This study is entitled Development of a Portfolio Assessment Instrument on Writing Explanatory Text for Class XI in Indonesian Language Learning at SMA N 1 Pekanbaru. The main purpose of portfolio assessment in the 2013 curriculum is to determine the results of the work and the process of how the work is achieved by students. Changes in the assessment standards proclaimed by the government in the 2013 Curriculum require optimal teacher attention because the assessment process is important in learning. As stated in the 2013 Curriculum that one of the changes recognized by the government in the 2013 Curriculum is the assessment standard, from assessment of results to process assessment. This study aims to analyze, interpret and conclude the form of developing an assessment instrument for basic competence in writing explanatory texts in class XI Indonesian language learning at SMA N 1 Pekanbaru. In developing the fortopolio assessment instrument, researchers used the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The population in this study is the people of Tembilahan District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The results showed that in writing the main ideas in the general statement section only three students scored 20 or very less, in writing the main ideas in the explanatory row section only five students scored 20 or very less, in writing the main ideas in the interpretation section. there are 11 students who have not been able to write the main ideas in the interpretation section. In writing sentences that contain information based on facts, there are 5 students who have not been able to write sentences containing information based on facts. In writing sentences that contain information based on the sequence of events, there are 8 students who have not been able to write sentences that contain information based on facts. In the aspect of rewriting explanatory text, there are 8 students who have not been able to write sentences that contain information based on facts. Overall the Development of a Portfolio Assessment Instrument for Class XI Explanatory Text Writing Materials in Indonesian Language Learning at SMA N 1 Pekanbaru that has been developed meets the valid criteria and meets the eligibility criteria for implementation.
