Abstract

Children are gifts from God Almighty who need to be protected by their dignity and rights to grow and develop according to their nature. The development of children's rights is increasingly central in the system of codification and legal unification which is formed in the process of protecting the rights of children that arise in the social environment. The position of children in the legal environment as legal subjects, criminal acts of sexual abuse against children need serious handling from law enforcement officials. In accordance with the provisions stipulated in Article 76E and Article 82 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. In this thesis entitled "Legal Protection of Children in Conflict with the Law in Sexual Harassment Cases in the Legal Area of the Balerang Batam Police" there are two main issues, namely: What Forms of Legal Protection are Provided to Children in Conflict with the Law in Sexual Harassment Crime Cases? in Indonesia and Its Implementation in the Legal Area of the Barelang Police and What Forms of Obstacles Are Faced and Mitigation Efforts in Providing Protection for Children in Conflict with the Law in Sexual Harassment Cases in the Barelang Police Legal Area. The research method used to answer the above problems uses an empirical writing method, namely a data collection technique where researchers make direct observations in the field to obtain primary and secondary data obtained from respondents through interviews. The research results show that law enforcement officials have provided legal protection for children in conflict with the law in cases of sexual abuse by assisting victims in dealing with cases of sexual harassment such as providing space for victims to consult a psychiatrist to calm the victim's psychology, and for female victims to be assisted with female police, but there is no special treatment for the protection of child victims because law enforcement officers only rely on the applicable laws. And the obstacles encountered in Mitigation Efforts in Providing Protection for Children in Conflict with the Law in Sexual Harassment Cases in the Legal Area of the Barelang Police, namely where it is difficult to obtain information from the victim because both the victim and the victim's parents feel ashamed of what happened to the victim in the case of sexual harassment and the difficulty of getting witnesses who were at the scene of the case.
