Abstract

Nomophobia experienced by individuals has negative impacts such as lack of direct communication because individuals prefer to communicate through social networks. Other visible effects are sleep disturbances, mood changes, and loss of concentration that interferes with daily activities. This study uses qualitative research. Data collection methods using interviews and observation. The data analysis method used in this study is an interactive process data analysis that continues until the data is complete. Informants taken by three people who study in Pekanbaru. The technique for determining informants used a purposive sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that there are some who show nomophobic behavior, namely each informant feels anxious when not holding a smartphone within a day, being indifferent and easily bored when chatting with friends, each informant always carries a charger and power bank, if did not get a network access network and internet quota, each informant felt anxious and panicked, when the smartphone's battery time was less than 20%, they immediately looked for a plug switch, each informant always checked the smartphone screen even though there was no incoming message notification and every night before the informant sleeps playing a smartphone opening the tiktok and Instagram applications.
