Abstract
This research aims to find out what values are contained in the Kuda Kepang art of the Turonggo Sekar Kencono Group in Bukit Gajah Village, Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques required are observation techniques, interview techniques and documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques in this research are (1) Data reduction, (2) Data presentation, (3) Drawing conclusions and then verifying them. The results of research regarding the values contained in the Kuda Kepang art of the Turonggo Sekar Kencono Group in Bukit Gajah Village, Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. This research focuses on describing general data such as research locations. Kuda Kepang has distinctive movement patterns, such as alert, forward, resistance and greeting movements, which contain religious and traditional meanings. This art contains important values in maintaining culture and inspiring the younger generation to maintain local wisdom and national identity. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the practice of trance and spells related to jinn, considering the guidance of the Koran which prohibits it. Overall, Kuda Kepang art in Bukit Gajah Village reflects the interaction between religion, customs and traditional values which mutually enrich and build the character of the community. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Kuda Kepang Group of Turonggo Sekar Kencono in Bukit Gajah Village contains religious values, customs and traditions. This performance is an important part of people's identity and culture, and has been passed down from generation to generation. Despite varying views on the compatibility of religion, many continue to value and maintain these traditions as an important part of local cultural heritage.
