Abstract
This research was conducted for 21 days from January to February 2023 at the Laboratory of the Fish Seed Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different salinities on the growth and survival of baung fish seeds (Hemibagrus nemurus). The method used is the experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) 5 treatments 3 replications, namely treatment P1 = maintenance with 3 ppt salinity, P2 = 4 ppt salinity, P3 = 5 ppt salinity, P4 = 6 ppt salinity and P5 = 7 salinity ppt. The baung fish seeds used were 30 days old after the egg yolks ran out. The seeds were obtained from the Fish Seed Center of the Integrated Agricultural Unit, Riau Islamic University which is located on Jalan Kasang Kulim Teropong, Kubang Raya Village, Siak Hulu Kampar District, Riau Province. The results showed that the optimal salinity for the growth and survival of the baung fish seeds was obtained in treatment P4 (maintenance with a salinity of 6 ppt), and the absolute weight growth was 0.73 g, the growth in length was 1.88 cm, the daily weight growth rate was 3.50% and the value of the feed conversion ratio is 1.69. Water quality, namely temperature 25-28OC, degree of acidity 6.26-7.78, dissolved oxygen 6.0-7.7 mg/L and Ammonia 0.59-1.88 mg/L.
