Abstract

KIP-K students are students who have a low economy and experience the demands of lectures that require them to meet these demands, so they experience difficult situations with their circumstances. In facing difficult situations, adversity quotient is needed for these KIP-K students. Adversity quotient can be improved with a positive view of the difficult situation it has, without blaming itself or its circumstances, this is called optimism. This study aims to determine whether there is a positive relationship between optimism and adversity quotient in KIP-K students. The subjects in this study were 254 people. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. Data collection methods using optimism scale and adversity quotient scale. Data analysis techniques using pearson correlation correlation. Based on pearson correlation product moment analysis, the correlation coefficient value r = 0.649 was obtained with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This shows that there is a significant positive relationship between optimism and adversity quotient in KIP-K students. It can be interpreted that the higher the optimism, the higher the adversity quotient in KIP-K students.
