Abstract

This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata) on the growth of Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria as well as the level/concentration of matoa leaf extract which is good for the growth process of these pathogen inhibiting bacteria. The method used is the experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD), namely with 5 treatments and 2 repetitions, namely P1 (10% concentration), P2 (20% concentration), P3 (30% concentration), P4 (40% concentration) and P5 (50% concentration). The results of the phytochemical test of matoa leaf extract contain saponins, phenolics, flavonoids, and terpenoids/steroids, which have the ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The inhibition power of 10% to 50% concentration of matoa leaf extract against the bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa belongs to the strong category.
