Abstract

USE OF TURMERIC (Curcuma longa Linn) AS A NATURAL ADDITIONAL NUTRITION IN FEED AND ITS APPLICATION TO GROWTH OF BAUNG FISH (Hemibagrus nemurus) SEEDS" under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Ir. H. Rosyadi, M.Sc. This research was carried out for 30 days starting in September - October 2022 at the Fish Seed Center (BBI), Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. This study aims to determine the effect of adding turmeric juice to feed on the growth of baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) seeds. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely treatment P0 = addition of 0 gr turmeric flour/kg feed, P1 = 5 gr, P2 = 10 gr, P3 = 15 gr and P4 20 gr/kg feed. The baung fish used were seeds that were 30 days old with an average weight of 0.86 g/head with a length of 3.86 cm/head, which were obtained from the Fish Seed Center (BBI) Integrated Agricultural Unit, Islamic University of Riau. The feed used is PF 1000 pellets which are added with turmeric juice. From the results of the study, the highest survival was obtained in the P0 treatment of 76.67% and the lowest in the P4 of 63.33%. The highest absolute weight growth was in the P4 treatment of 1.54 gr and the lowest was 1.05 gr. The highest absolute length growth was in the P4 treatment of 2.65 cm and the lowest was 1.91 cm. The highest daily weight growth rate for the P4 treatment was 5.13% and the lowest was 3.50%. The best feed conversion value was the P4 treatment of 1.55. Water quality parameters are temperature 25-30oC, pH 5.65-6.72, dissolved oxygen 5.4-7.1 mg/L and Ammonia 0.83-3.92 mg/L.
