Abstract

The problem studied in this research is the values contained in the Al-Barzanji tradition in Bagansiapiapi City, Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The theory used by researchers in values is UU Hamidy (2014:48) which explains the existence of 4 values, namely as follows: (1) religious values, (2) traditional values, (3) traditional values, (4) social values. The method used by researchers is qualitative research using descriptive methods, namely researchers conduct research by collecting accurate data from sources regarding the values contained in the Al-Barzanji tradition to improve research result and make it easier to determine problem formulation. The results of this research are that there are 4 values contained in the Al-Barzanji tradition. First, religious values : it is a holy book which contains poetry and essence that explains good values. Second, traditional values : the preservation of the zanji from generation to generation despite cultural changes. Third, the value of tradition : this has been proven by the introduction of Al-Barzanji more or less in the 90s. Fourth, social value : the community participates in Barzanji activities and works together to prepare the event.
