Abstract

Research on the effect of kirinyuh compost (Chromolaena odorata) and organic npk on the growth and production of sweet corn (Zea mays l.). This study aims to determine the interaction and main effect of kirinyuh compost and organic NPK on the growth and production of corn plants. This research was carried out in the garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11 No. 113 Marpoyan Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The study was conducted for 3 months from August to October 2022. This study used a completely randomized factorial design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the dose of kirinyuh compost consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 0; 1.26; 2.52 and 3.78 kg/plot. The second factor was the dose of Organic NPK which consisted of 4 treatment levels, namely 0; 5.10; 10.2 and 15.3 g/plant. Parameters observed were plant height, leaf area, stem diameter, flowering time, longest cob, cob diameter and weight per cob. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ follow-up test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of kirinyuh compost and organic NPK was significant on stem diameter, cob diameter and weight per cob, the best treatment combination was kirinyuh compost 3.78 kg/plot and organic NPK 15.3 g/plant. The main effect of the kirinyuh compost treatment was significant on all observation parameters, the best treatment was the kirinyuh compost dose of 3.78 kg/plot. The main effect of organic NPK treatment is significant for all observation parameters. The best treatment was the organic NPK dose of 15.3 g/plant.
