Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of extending the soaking duration for silkworms (Tubife sp) using a turmeric flour solution on the survival and growth of baung fish fry (Hemibagrus nemurus). The method employed was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications: P1 = 30 minutes, P2 = 35 minutes, P3 = 40 minutes, P4 = 45 minutes, and P5 = 50 minutes. The baung fish used were 14 days old, with an average weight of 0.09 g/fish and a length of 0.7 cm/fish. These seeds were sourced from Sudarlis' UPR in Sungai Paku Village, Kampar Kiri District. The results of the research demonstrated that the test of extending the soaking duration for silkworms using a turmeric flour solution had a highly significant effect on the survival, weight, length, daily growth rate, and feed conversion of baung fish fry. The best results, obtained from the P3 treatment, showed a survival rate of 98.67%, an absolute weight increase of 0.44 g, an absolute length increase of 3.47 cm, a daily growth rate of 2.08%, and a conversion rate of 3.73. Water quality parameters included a temperature range of 28-32°C, pH levels between 6.2-7.1, dissolved oxygen ranging from 6.5-5.8 mg/L, and ammonia levels between 0.24-2.31 mg/L.
