Abstract
"Analysis of Factors Affecting Indonesian Wheat Imports". Under the guidance of Mrs. Sisca Vaulina, SP., MP. Wheat is a food ingredient that has the advantage of being long-lasting and can be processed into various kinds of food and is a source of carbohydrates. Wheat can be used as a substitute for rice. Indonesian demand for wheat has a trend that tends to increase every year due to the increasing development of the wheat flour-based food industry. To meet the need for wheat, Indonesia imports, this is because Indonesia is not a wheat producing country. This research aims to: (1) Analyze the growth in the volume of Indonesian wheat imports, international wheat prices, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), consumption, rupiah exchange rate and inflation for the 1990-2020 period. (2) Analyze the factors that influence Indonesian wheat imports. This research lasted for 6 months, starting from July to November 2023. The method used in this research was literature (library research) using secondary data in the form of time series data based on 1990-2020. Data analysis in this research is qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis as well as the Cobb-Douglas production function which is transformed into Natural Logarithms (LN) with the variables of Indonesian wheat import volume, international wheat prices, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), consumption, rupiah exchange rate and inflation. The results of the research show that the growth in the volume of Indonesian wheat imports for the period 1990 to 2020 experienced an average growth rate of 5.4% per year over a period of 31 years. The average growth rate of international wheat prices is 7.9% per year. Gross domestic product (GDP) experienced an average growth rate of 8% per year. The average growth rates of consumption, rupiah exchange rate and inflation over the last 31 years were respectively 5.4%, 6.9% and -5% per year. Based on the results of the Cobb-Douglas production function analysis transformed into Natural Logarithms (LN), international wheat prices, gross domestic product (GDP) and the rupiah exchange rate have a positive and insignificant effect on the volume of wheat imports, then consumption has a positive and significant effect on the volume of wheat imports. Indonesia, while inflation has a negative and insignificant effect on the volume of Indonesian wheat imports.
