Abstract
Online transportation is not only about enjoying the benefits, but there are also many shortcomings of online-based transportation itself, transportation drivers still often make movements that are considered detrimental to consumers, both disasters that are truly capable of being carried out by consumers or material losses, as well as irrelevant misfortunes such as dissatisfaction, discomfort felt by consumers. The formulation of the problem in this study is How is the Legal Protection for Consumers who are harmed by Maxim Drivers in Pekanbaru City according to Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and What are the Obstacles of the Maxim Company in Implementing Legal Protection for Maxim Consumers in Pekanbaru City. The type of legal research method that researchers use in this thesis research is the empirical legal research method, which in other words is sociological legal research where this research is conducted directly in the field. With the nature of the research, namely descriptive analytical, this method is used to see a legal reality that exists in the midst of society. The results of the study that the author found were Legal Protection for Consumers who were harmed by Maxim Drivers in Pekanbaru City according to Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection where the Maxim company has provided legal protection for its consumers, especially if the consumer is harmed by the Maxim driver where the Maxim company receives services to respond to all forms of consumer complaints and provide compensation for losses experienced by consumers, but not all consumers and drivers know that the Maxim company provides Legal Protection for Consumers who are harmed by Maxim Drivers, therefore there are still many Maxim drivers who ask for more payments from consumers. And Maxim experiences obstacles in Implementing Legal Protection for Maxim Consumers in Pekanbaru City, namely technological constraints, inconsistent Maxim policies, lack of consumer legal knowledge and Ineffective dispute resolution.
