Abstract

Noise is a sound that interferes with human activities in everyday life. One of the effects of noise on humans is the disruption of teaching and learning activities in the education area. This study aims to determine the level of vehicle traffic noise in the area of SD Negeri 94 Pekanbaru and SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru. In this study using the Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CoRTN) method and using a Sound Meter Level (SLM) tool. Noise level measurements were carried out for three days, namely Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 06.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB. Based on the calculation of the CoRTN method, the noise level was obtained in the SDN 94 Pekanbaru school area with the highest noise level on Monday at point 1 (one) of 74.94 dB(A) and the lowest on Saturday at point 2 (two) of 69.06 dB (A). Whereas using the highest SLM leq value on Monday at point 2 (two) of 84.52 dB(A) and the lowest on Saturday at point 2 (two) of 71.37 db(A). For the SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru school area, the noise level with CoRTN calculations is highest on Monday at point 1 (one) of 76.28 dB(A) and lowest on Saturday at point 2 (two) of 63.97 db( A). Meanwhile using the highest SLM leq value on Monday at point 1 (one) with a noise level of 79.37 dB(A) and the lowest on Saturday at point 2 (two) with a noise level of 63.43 db(A). In addition, the results of the CoRTN and SLM methods due to traffic still exceed the standard quality standard set by KepMenLH No.48 of 1996 of 55 dB(A) as the safe number for noise in the school area. While the results of calculating the questionnaire as much as 43.33% of students at SD Negeri 94 Pekanbaru felt quite disturbed and 48.33% of students at SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru also felt quite disturbed, concentration problems were also felt by 35% of students at SD Negeri 94 Pekanbaru, at SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru 51.67% of students sometimes feel dizzy and 100% of Pekanbaru 14 Public Middle School students do not choose to change schools.
