Abstract

Analysis of the use of graphene oxide as a water treatment filtration media using inorganic materials aims to analyze water quality by removing impurities particles, adjusting ions and turbidity values according to injection needs with more efficient and maximum results. This inorganic material filtration media can reduce waste which is quite high in Indonesia. The liquid phase exfoliation method in the synthesis of graphene oxide in the liquid phase with the processing stages of battery scraping to produce graphite in the form of powder which is then mixed with two variations of surfactants to be sonicated and centrifuged to to produce graphene, both samples #GO-1# and #GO-2# will be used as filtration media for the water treatment process, this study obtained the results of FTIR #GO-1# and #GO-2# successfully forming Graphene oxide with (O-H) groups ,(N-H) at a wavelength of 3319.42 cm -1 , a group (C-H) at a wave number of 2908.65 cm-1 , and a group (C=C) or aromatic compounds. The results of UV-Vis #GO-1# and #GO-2# showed that the first two absorbance peaks =227 nm and the second peak =244 nm, sample #GO�2# the first peak =252 nm and the second peak = 281 nm, the two absorbance peaks at #GO-1# and #GO-2# are in the (Uv) 200-400nm region, the water quality from the treatment got the best value at #GO-2# which managed to lower the initial PH 9.22 mg/L to 7.32 mg/L, initial TDS 12.5 mg/l to 9.21 mg/L, initial salinity 15.63 psu to 10.07 psu, initial turbidity 6.99 NTU to 2.05 NTU , initial Mg 29.72 mg/L to 25.71 mg/L, initial Ca 46.03 mg/L to 28.54 mg/L, initial FE 0.277 mg/L to 0.169 mg/L and initial oil and grase 7 to be <5
