Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of students’ learning achievement. Research focus in this research questioned there was any influence of Islamic education teacher’s professional competency on students’ cognitive learning achievement at vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru. This research used correlational quantitative research. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of Islamic education teacher’s professional competency on students’ cognitive learning achievement at vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru. The subject used all class X students at vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru. The population was 59 students from class X vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru. This research consisted of two variables that was Islamic education teacher’s professional competency (variable X) and learning achievement (variable Y). This research finding showed that there was any influence of Islamic education teacher’s professional competency on students’ cognitive learning achievement. It could be seen from data computation result used IBM SPSS statistic 22 for windows that simple regression analysis got significant score smaller than 0.05 where 0.000 < 0.05. So, research hypothesis about the influence of Islamic education teacher’s professional competency on students’ cognitive learning achievement at vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru was accepted. The influence score level between Islamic education teacher’s professional competencies (variable X) had contribution in 82.2% on learning achievement (variable Y), meanwhile 17.8% learning achievement was influenced by other factor that did not research. It meant that the influence of Islamic education teacher’s professional competency on students’ cognitive learning achievement at vocational high school Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru was in “very strong” category.
