Abstract

THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION TEACHERS IN DEVELOPING CRITICAL THINKING SKILL: CASE STUDY FOR STUDENTS AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 3 TAPUNG KAMPAR LESTARI NUR 182410280 This research was motivated by the lack of teachers? role in developing critical thinking skill and it was seen from students who did not enthusiastic to follow teaching and learning process. Some of students seldom to utter their opinion, and some of students were lack of understanding about the lesson. Thus, the formulation of the research questioned about how was the role of Islamic education teachers in developing critical thinking skill: case study for students at senior high school 3 Tapung-Kampar? This research was descriptive research with qualitative approach. The object in this research was the role of Islamic education teachers in developing critical thinking skill at senior high school 3 TapungKampar. The informant in this research was two (2) Islamic education teachers; Mr. Dasril W, S.Ag (49 years old, teaching started from 2009-2022) and Mrs. Nur Ilmiah, S.Pd (42 years old, teaching started from 2008-2022). Data collection technique in this research used interview, observation and documentation. Data analysis used data reduction, data display and data verification. Research finding showed that Islamic education teachers play important role in developing students? critical thinking skill. Teachers as demonstrators in improving students? critical thinking skill such as asking topic, giving questions. Teachers as managers in improving students? critical thinking skill. Teachers as mediators in improving students? critical thinking skill, and teachers as evaluators in improving students? critical thinking skill. Teachers’ Role, Critical Thinking Skill
