Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has driven the education sector to continuously innovate, one of which is in the recording of student attendance. This study aims to design and develop a real-time attendance system based on facial recognition using OpenCV and Firebase. The system utilizes computer vision technology to automatically detect and recognize student faces through a camera, allowing the attendance process to be conducted without manual signatures or physical attendance sheets. The implementation of this system is expected to reduce fraud, speed up the attendance process, and improve the accuracy of attendance data. The results of testing show that the system is capable of accurately identifying faces and storing attendance data directly into a cloud-based database. Therefore, this system can serve as a more efficient and effective solution to support teaching and learning activities in higher education environments.
