Abstract

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN QANA'AH AND CONSUMPTIVE BEHAVIOR ON ADOLESCENT IN PEKANBARU Emi Wahyuni Nasution 158110152 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF RIAU ABSTRACT Consumptive behavior is individual behavior in buying or using goods excessively, which is no longer based on rational considerations and more concerned on the desire factor than the need itself. Qana'ah is assumed to be able to control consumptive behavior on adolescents. This study aims to determine the correlation between Qana'ah and consumptive behavior. The population in this study is adolescent in Pekanbaru with a total sample of 350 subjects who are taken by using the cluster random sampling technique. The data collection uses two scales, the Qana'ah scale and the consumptive behavior scale. The data is analyzed by using the product moment correlation analysis technique. The correlation shows that there is a significant negative correlation between Qana'ah and consumptive behavior (r = -0.554, p = 0.000). The effective contribution given by the Qana'ah variable to consumptive behavior is 30.7%, the rest is influenced by other variables.
