Abstract

This study aims to determine the depression tendency on elderly at technical implementation unit for social service of Tresna Werdha Khusnul Khotimah Pekanbaru and the factors that play a role in influencing the tendency for depression. Factors that influence the tendency of depressed behavior in the elderly such as physical factors which including age. Meanwhile, Psychological factor includes personality factors, and stress factors. The informants in this study consist of one man and one woman with an age range of 70 years and over who lived in nursing home. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data collection in this study uses the method of in-depth interviews and observation. Analysis of the data used is coding. The finding in this study indicates that both informants have problems while living in a nursing home. This is caused by problems in the past which are still being carried. The lack of social support from the family and the lack of socializing with the surrounding environment add to the problems experienced by informants while in nursing homes.
