Abstract

Riau Province in general has areas with peat soil conditions with a fairly wide coverage on the island of Sumatra, namely ± 4.04 million ha or 56.1% of the total peat land on the island of Sumatra. The construction of highways on peat soil must pay attention to the condition of the base soil first so that the roads built can last a long time. The peat soil used was taken from Sadar Jaya Village, Kec. Siak Kecil, Kab. Bengkalis, Riau and will be stabilized by using corn stalk ash (ABJ) and cement as a stabilizing mixture. Soil stabilization method is one of the methods that is often used to improve the original soil condition by improving the bearing strength of the soil that is not good enough. The value of bearing strength in good soil is >6% for laboratory testing and for field testing >3%. The variation of the mixture used is 2% ABJ, 5% cement and 4% ABJ, 10% cement. The curing period used was 0, 4, and 7 days of curing. Based on the results of testing the CBR value carried out on the original soil and soil mixed with ABJ and cement with curing times of 0, 4, and 7 days. The CBR value of the original soil at 0 days of ripening was 13.33%, 4 days was 16.04%, and 7 days was 16.88%. For the CBR value on mixed soil 2% ABJ, 5% cement at 0 days curing period was 13.75%, 4 days was 18.63% and 7 days was 19.80%. For the CBR value on mixed soil 4% ABJ, 10% cement at 0 days curing period was 13.95%, 4 days was 19.59% and 7 days was 20.01%. From the test results, it can be concluded that the highest CBR value was at 7 days of curing for both native and mixed soils. The length of curing time is a factor that affects the CBR value, the longer the curing time, the higher the CBR value in the original soil and mixed soil.
