Abstract

Slums are a condition of a residential environment with a very poor quality. Location of slum settle ments in Kuantan Tengah Subdistrict there are two villages which are categorized as medium slum, namely Koto Taluk Village and Sawah Village, with the main problem being sanitation settlements including environmental drainage, residential wastewater and wa ste settlement, with the condition of infrastructure facilities from sanitation not yet adequate so that it causes various kinds of problems. The purpose of this study was to formulate the Sanitation Strategy of Slums in the Kuantan Tengah Subdistrict. Th e methods and analysis used are qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques with a Likert scale, and use the Probability Sampling method with the type of Simple Random Sampling. The results of this study are the characteristics of the san itation of slums in Central Kuantan Sub - district are still not in accordance with technical standards, where are the results of the level of problems in the villages of Koto Taluk and Sawah Village with physical indicators, implementers , and behaviors are moderate, but the average level of dominant problems is higher in Koto Taluk Village. Then from the results of its strategy using SWOT analysis which consists of the S - O Strategy, W - O Strategy, S - T Strategy, W - T Strategy, with the relationship between env ironmental drainage, wastewater, and solid waste in efforts to handle sanitation in Kuantan Tengah subdistrict
