Abstract

Concrete is the main ingredient in construction services consisting of Portland cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, water and added materials. One of the concrete structures used on rigid pavement. Rigid pavement always uses high strength concrete which requires more cement than normal concrete, so additional materials are needed. This research was conducted to reduce the use of cement as a mixture of concrete by using ashes of sweet corn stalks which both have chemical, , the aim is to determine the effect of compressive strength and flexural strength in concrete to determine the optimum content of sweet corn stem ash on the concrete mixture. Sweet corn stalk ash as a partial substitute for cement using a mixture percentage of 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 9% on the compressive strength and flexural strength test of concrete for 28 days. In this study, SNI 03-2834-2000 was used to mix concrete designs with specimens in the form of size cubes (15x15x15cm) and blocks (15x15x60cm). Based on the research, the effect of using sweet corn stem ash for compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete with 28 days of treatment was able to increase the compressive strength and flexural strength, but the use of sweet corn stem ash also had an effect on the slump value of concrete. The more the use of sweet corn stem ash, the lower the slump value. The optimum value of the use of sweet corn stem ash for the compressive strength of the cubes at 28 days of treatment is at 7% content of 462.4 Kg / cm2. For the flexural strength of the beam at 28 days of treatment, the optimum value is 7% content of 4.67 MPa. However, all are still included with the planned quality of compressive strength of K-450 and flexural strength of fs 4.5 Mpa.
