Abstract

Wasathiyah is a middle position that makes people impartial to the left and right, thing that can lead humans to be fair. Misunderstandings about Islam greatly increased in this era of globalization. This mistake in understanding Islam caused the Islamic ummah to be extreme left and extreme right. In the field of education there are many over-attitude problems that adversely affect the teacher and his students, such as the teacher joking excessively with his students, jokingly triggering the teacher to react and kick each other, the parents rage to the new student admission committee because they protested asking for justice for the acceptance of new students. Events like this are things that must be resolved, especially for the world of Islamic education so that errors in understanding Islam can be anticipated and understood by all generations of Indonesian Muslims. So the authors are interested in raising the title of the study of the values of Islamic wasathiyah education in the qur'an surah al-baqarah verse 143 according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The author describe what are the values of Islamic wasathiyah education according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The purpose of this study is to find out how the values of wasathiyah Islamic education according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The type of research is library research. Data analysis techniques in this study, namely: data reduction, data model, drawing conclusions, values of Islamic wasathiyah education in surah al-baqarah verse 143 according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab is behaving tawassuth (seeking middle ground), tawazun (balanced), exemplary and fair.
