Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of various kinds of phenomena of deception in the scales. That deception in wighing the palm was often in a hurry and never fits or it was not appropriate with Islamic business ethics. So, the farmers will be aggrieved in the weighing process that applied in Karya Bakti village. In trading prosess, it has to implement the Islamic principles, such as honesty, fairness and trust. Furthermore, both seller and buyer are prohibited of doing the cheating such as reducing the scales. Reducing the scales is one of the prohibited trading action in Islam because it takes someone right in vanity ways. The formulation of the problem in this reseach: how was the scales mechanism in palm trading that applied by buyer (toke) to the farmers. The purpose of this reseach was to find out how was the scale of mechanism in palm trading at Karya Bakti Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province according to Islamic busniness ethics. The theoritical framework that used in this reseach was scale mechanism in palm trading. This was descriptive reseach which was used questionnaire and documentation in collecting the data. After collecting data, it was analyzed by using qualitative method. The result of this reseach shown there was a cutting or reducing weigh of scales done by buyer(toke) to farmers and the buyer (toke) often measured based on assumption, so the farmers felt aggrieved toward the scales mechanism that applied by buyer (toke). According to Islamic business ethics, this action is contradicting to islamic principles namely honesty, fairness and trust.
