Abstract

Based on results of observations made on extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 09 Pekanbaru, it is known that female students are still not able to master the shoot lay-up technique. This can be seen from the way students do lay up shoots, students are still stiff in doing shoot lay up movements, students look hesitant when doing shoot lay up jumps, sometimes the ball is also released from the hands of the girls when they will jump to do shoot lay up. Then the student's muscular leg explosive power which is less than optimal results in the high jump that the female student achieves so that the girl has difficulty in inserting the ball into the basketball net, as well as the agility of the female students are not so good. Then the student's eye and hand coordination is also not maximized, so the ball that is hitched into the basket basket often does not enter the basket. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of leg muscle explosive power to the ability of shoot lay up in basketball games for extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 09 Pekanbaru. This type of research is correlation. The population in this study were extracurricular students of SMA Negeri 09 Pekanbaru, amounting to 12 people. The sampling technique used is total sampling so that the number of samples in this study there were 12 students. The test instrument used is a vertical jump test and shoot lay up test. The data analysis technique used is the r test. Based on the results of the above analysis, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between leg muscle explosive power and the ability of shoot lay-ups in basketball games for extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 09 Pekanbaru at 45.16% with a value of r count = 0.672> rtable = 0.576.
