Abstract
The Objective of this research activity is to know there bis significant effect or not between students after applaying Writing Here And Now in improving students of SMA Negeri 12 pekanbaru. The design of this research is a quasi experimental research, focuses on quantitative approach. The location of this research is at SMA Negeri12 pekanbaru. It was located on jl. Garuda sakti km 3, simpang baru,tampan ,kota pekanbaru,riau. The number of students are 320 students that consist of ten classes.because the number of population is relatively large, then the researcher used purposive sampling technique to make the sample. Purposive sampling is a way of sampling by selecting a subject based on specific criteria that determined by researcher. It means the researcher choose X mipa 4 as the sample, and number of them are 30 students which consist of 16 males and 14 females as experimental research who taught by the researcher. Based on the research it was found that there was significant improvement achived by the second year students of SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru in writing recount text in term of grammar/structure, choice of words, completing Writing task based on the teacher’s instruction, and mechanics (spelling, punctuation, capitalization) after applying “ Writing in here and now” strategy. It was proved that the observed statistic (t observed) greater than the critical statistic (t critical)so null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis accepted .t observed of 60>t critic of 5% or 31,49>
