Abstract

The technology of distillation (distillation) of water to get fresh water from dirty water to get fresh water from dirty water or sea water is essentially evaporating sea water by heating, which is then condensed so that the water vapor becomes fresh water. The working process of destilator is also a weakness, namely from the process of evaporation of destilator, the steam produced is then condensed into granules of water attached to the glass. Then the water meets other water droplets and produces water that has excess water weight so that before the water reaches the reservoir the water will first all. Similarly, the longer the destilator will affect the evaporation of the fall of the water before falling into the reservoir. This study aims to determine the optimum length of solar power destilator. This study used the optimum length of 500 mm, 600 mm, 700 mm, 800 mm, 900 mm and 1000 mm as the length to be analyzed. The evaporation process will affect the distillation system and the quantity of water produced. From the results of the test which has result of the test which has the optimum length of the quantity of water the highest yield is at a length of 70cm of 1678 ml. This is caused by the water in the basin that has been evaporated so that the saturated steam releases latent heat to produce the maximum quantity of water. from the results of testing and calculations that have the most optimum length of the best performance on solar power destillator which is 70 cm display, because the evaporation energy rate is 127,6 watts, the energy rate at condensation is 124,02 watts, the distillation rate is 0,0000517 kg/s, the efficiency of distillation products is 11,65% and the efficiency of the distillation system is 38,2%.
