Abstract

This study aims: To determine the ability to think high-level students in solving problems on daily re-examination of excellence system material level SMA / MA. This research is descriptive research. The instrument used is a matter of higher order thinking skills with excretory system material created and taken from book sources Nurhayati & Wijayanti based on revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The research was conducted on 31 April to 7 May 2018. The population in this research is the students of class XI IPA 1 to XI IPA 5 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru with sampling technique used is random sampling technique randomly so that the sample in the research is 50% of all the number of students XI IPA 1 to XI IPA 5 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru as many as 84 students. The results showed that the ability to think high-level students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru in the low category with a percentage of 41.37%. Of the three levels of thinking problems as high as 39.42% of students are able to answer about C4, while for the matter of C5 and C6 each as much as 38.32% and 46.39%. From the results of this study can be concluded that students of SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru academic year 2017/2018 have high-order thinking or high order thinking skills (HOTS) low category.
