Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim to determine the laboratory profile and competency of the Biology laboratory management teacher at Pekanbaru 23 Junior High School in the academic year 2017/2018. This research is a survey research with descriptive quantitative analysis. This research data was collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results in this study indicate that the condition of the carrying capacity of the Biological Laboratory equipment facilities at the 23rd State Junior High School of Pekanbaru shows that the conditions have met the standards set, namely, the facilities carrying capacity of existing infrastructure in the Science / Biology laboratory room meets the standards (91, 3%) with a very good category. The competency of teachers in the science / Biology laboratory manager in every aspect was obtained in percentage, namely: 100% qualification aspect with very competent category, personality competency obtained 92.57% percentage with very competent category, competence social obtained a percentage of 71.42% in the category of competent, managerial competencies obtained percentage of 55.16% are quite competent, and professional competence is 74.07% with the category of quite competent. Thus it can be concluded that the facilities carrying capacity of the infrastructure facilities of the Biology Science Laboratory at Pekanbaru 23rd Junior High School obtained an overall percentage of 91.3% in the very good category according to the Ministry of National Education Regulation No. 24 of 2007 and the competency of the Biology Laboratory science teacher of SMP 23 Pekanbaru 2017/2018 Academic Year obtained an overall percentage of 78.64% competent categories.
