Abstract
Speaking is one way to communicate which ideas and through a message orally. To enable students communicate, we need to apply language in real communication.This research was aimed to determine the effect of Task Based Learning on students speaking ability. The analysis used an independent variable of Task Based Learning method. While the dependent variable is speaking ability. The sample of this research is VII-B as experimental class and VII-C as control class. Data collection is done with students speaking performance in front of class. The result of this research found that the alternative hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected. It can be seen from the data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test from SPSS version 22 program. The result of post-test in experimental class show that sig(2-tailed) was 0,000 and post-test in control class show that sig(2-tailed) 0,141. So, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of Task Based Learning towards students speaking ability at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan Kabupaten Pelalawan
