Abstract

Illocutionary act performed with a goal to told someone an utterance and it needs the hearer’s understanding to do an action to that information they heard. From illocutionary act divided into five that are representative, directive, commisive, expressive, and declarative. The researcher focused on directive. Directive is the kind of speech acts that the speaker uses to get someone else to do something. The speaker tries to get the listener to act in such a way or to do a future action according to the intention of the speaker. This research analyze the directive act on Moana movie. The objectives of this research was to know the types of directive act and the dominant directives act that found in the Moana movie. The methodology of this research was qualitative research. The source of the data in this research was from Moana movie. The data were in the form of utterances. The instrument of this research was documentation. The researcher describe that the directive acts appeared 93 times on this movie. On directive acts, there are 17 commanding act appears, ordering 20 times, suggesting 8 times, warning 9 times, requesting 3 times, forbidding 3 times, inviting 2 times,asking 17 times, begging 5 times, advising 12 times. From this conclusion. In directive act ordeirng act appeared the most for 20 times and inviting is the least appeared with 2 times.
