Abstract
Many students have low achievement motivation, so they can’t achieve the maximum performance. Achievement is the result of hard work of a students during each semester. There are several things that can affect the motivation of achievement, such as optimism and self efficacy. The existence of optimism and self efficacy, one will be sure in solving the problem of life. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship of optimism and self efficacy with achievement motivation student/i Islamic University of Riau. Subjects in this study were students of Islamic University of Riau in active status as many as 400 students. The data used in the study have been collected using optimism scale, self efficacy scale, and achievement motivation scale. Statistical analysis that used in this study was multiple regression statistical analysis, through the help of SPSS program version 17.0 for windows. The statistic shows that there was a positive and significant relationship between optimism and self efficacy with achievement motivation with R = 0,723, p =0,000, and F = 209,458. The contribution value given is R2 = 0.523 or equal to 52.3%.
