Abstract

In daily life we will never be separated from communication activities. Consciously or not, we are always involved in routine communication. Communication is very instrumental in all fields, one of which is in the field of education. Submitting messages that educate must go through the right procedure, so that the correct feedback is achieved. In the education process, teaching and learning activities are the most basic activities. The national education system is organized through two channels, namely the school education and non-school education. Family is one of the education pathways outside of school and is also the first and most important educational environment for children. Smooth and healthy communication in the family is the hope of each family, because interpersonal in the family is related, interconnected and sling requires. This study uses the theory of interpersonal communication. This study aims to determine the effect of interpersonal communication in the family on the level of achievement of children in Ikasari Pekanbaru Vocational High School. The population in this study were 282, and the sample of this study was 100 people. This research approach uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods and questionnaire data collection techniques and simple regression analysis. This study tested the validity and reliability using a Likert scale. Data collection method by distributing to 100 respondents. The results of data analysis showed that the effect of interpersonal communication in the family on children's achievement levels was very low, where the amount of influence generated from interpesonal communication was very low at 0.6%. So that the regression equation obtained is Y = 3.196 + (-0.404X) and the magnitude of the influence that the R square value (R2) is equal to 0.006 means that there is an influence of interpersonal communication variables (X) on the child's achievement level (Y) of 0.6%.
