Abstract

A pineapple peeler is a machine that is used to separate the skin and flesh of pineapples. Most pineapple home industries in Indonesia still use manual methods for peeling pineapples. From this problem, a machine was created using a solar-powered pneumatic actuator system, and this machine will be tested and analyzed on the performance of the pineapple fruit peeler machine using a solar-powered pneumatic actuator system, with the goal of using the resulting pneumatic actuator system performance value as a reference to determine the optimal productivity of the pineapple peeler and slicer machine. The stripping test uses a pneumatic actuator system as a pineapple peeler, namely by varying the amount of air pressure to the pneumatic actuator, where the regulator is regulated in the stripping test with air pressure at 2, 3, 4, and 5 kgf/cm2. As a comparison, tests are also carried out peeling pineapple with a manual system; each peeling is given 2 pineapple samples with ripe and half-ripe pineapples that have a diameter above 11 cm measured using a caliper. As a result, the use of a pneumatic actuator system on the performance of a pineapple peeler machine can produce more stripping production capacity than manual peeling. This is because stripping with a pneumatic actuator system takes less time than manual stripping. The use of a pneumatic actuator system in pineapple peeling depends on the amount of compressed air distributed to the actuator; the greater the air distribution, the greater the force generated, and the force will affect the stripping speed. The faster stripping is done, the capacity and efficiency of stripping will increase.
