Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the type of damage, to know the comparison of the condition values based on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Present Serviceability Index (PSI) methods, to know the efforts to repair the damage conditions that have consist and to know the significant difference between the two methods. The methods used in this research are the PCI and PSI. The PSI method will use the relationship equation between PSI and the International Roughness Index (IRI) and the IRI values used are IRI from NAASRA and IRI from manual surveys. Research of the study found first that the damage that consist at the Simpang Panam - Simpang Kubang segment included aligator cracking, block cracking, bumps and sags, shoulder drops, longitudinal and transverse cracks, patches, polished aggregates, potholes, rutting, and weathering/granules. The most dominant damage in the lane 1 was Potholes type damage with 41 event and in Line 2 the most dominant type of damage was Aligator Cracking with 45 event. Secondly, the comparison of PCI produces an average value (two lanes) of 72 which is the service is good condition, while the PSI from IRI NAASRA produces a value of 2,12 which means that the service condition of the segment is insufficient, while the PSI from IRI Manual produces a service value of 3,10 which means the road is in good condition. Third, efforts that can be made to improve the condition of the segment are on line 1 is to prioritize handling the type of potholes damage using full-depth patching or hot mix asphalt overlay and in lane 2 the priority for handling is the type of Aligator Cracking with the handling method it is recommended that a full-depth patching repair is the best solution. Fourth, based on the analysis that has been carried out, there is no significant difference between the PCI and PSI methods in assessing the service conditions of road segments, the only fundamental difference is in the analysis method, PCI uses an indicator range value from 0-100 and PCI analysis requires data on the type of damage, dimensions damage, and the level of damage. Whereas the PSI analytically assesses the condition of road services with indicator numbers between 0-5 and one of the analytical methods that can be used is IRI value in road segment.
