Abstract

Language learning strategies are specific actions taken by the learners to make learning easier, faster, more enjoyable, more self-directed, more effective, and more transferrable to new situations. There are some phenomena in learning speaking faced by the Fourth Semester of English Language Education.When overcoming the speaking probelms, learners use a number of different strategies serving as a tool that helps them to achieve technique learning objectives. The objective of the reserach are to know the learning strategies and most used startegies used by the Fourth Semester of English Language Education. The research used qualitative research. The participant of this research is taken through random sampling technique. The sample of the class fourth A which consisted of 35 students. The instrument of this reserach was questionnaires. It consists of 29 questions about learning strategies in speaking performance. The researcher distributed the questionnaire to participants by using Google form and score it by using likert scale and analyzed the result by using percentage. From the research result it is ilustrated that the most learning stratagies used by the Fourth Semester of English Language Education was cognitive strategy . The second most used by students was Compensation strategies and Memory strategies, the third most used by students was Memory strategies and followed by Affective strategies and Social strategies.
