Abstract

The production process is a stage of taking oil reserves in a reservoir where the process of taking oil reserves in a reservoir is assisted by an Artificial Lift if the reservoir is no longer able to Natural Flow. The CM well is a Directional well with an Inclination angle of up to 30º that uses an Artificial Lift in the form of a Progressive Cavity Pump. The CM well indicated Tubing Leak which caused the pump to not be able to circulate the surface fluid so that the well became unproductive, at first the well did not release the fluid on the Sample Point Valve then performed Pull Out Rod String and Tubing String which found damage to the tubing located at 53 joints and 99 joints from Tubing Hanger .Evaluation of Tubing Leak in Directional Well using Artificial Lift Progressive Cavity Pump is conducted to determine the cause of Tubing Leak in SAI wells and prevent Tubing Leak from happening again by giving Improvement and Recommendation. Based on the evaluation results it is known that the occurrence of Tubing Leak in SAI wells is due to Rod / Tubing Contact Load or contact between Rod String and Tubing continuously so that it erodes Tubing. This Rod / Tubing Contact Load occurs because of an error when the engineer designs the Rod String circuit in the C-FER Software, the SAI Well Rod / Tubing Contact Load value obtained from the C-FER Software when before the Tubing Leak is above 100lbf at a depth of around 710ft - 1100ft and 1910ft - 2250ft. Based on company regulations, the value of the Rod / Tubing Contact Load must not exceed 100lbf to avoid Tubing Leak.Therefore a redesign of the Rod String series was performed on the C-FER Software to reduce the Rod / Tubing Contact Load. After knowing the cause of the Tubing Leak in the SAI well, the Engineer redesigned the Rod String series in the C-FER Software by replacing the number of Sucker Rods, Pony Rods, and Centralizers. The previous number of Sucker Rods was 136joints to 92joints, Pony Rod was previously 6joints to 121joints, Centralizer was previously 54pcs to 165pcs. With the change of the Rod String series, there is a change in the value of the Rod / Tubing Contact Load, where the value of the Rod / Tubing Contact Load of this series is under 100lbf with the highest value of only 78lbf.
