Abstract

This study is entitled Analysis of the Effect of Personal Financial Need, Corporate Governance, and Economic Instability on the Potential for Financial Shenanigans in the Covid-19 Pandemic Period in Food and Beverage Companies listed on the IDX for the 2019-2020 period. This study aims to determine the effect of personal financial needs, corporate governance, and economic instability on the potential risk of financial crime during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were 30 Food and Beverage companies listed on the IDX for the 2019-2020 period. The data sources used are secondary data and literature. The sample selection uses a purposive sampling method. Statistical analysis tool using multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of data analysis obtained partially, economic instability has a significant effect on the potential risk of financial crime. Meanwhile, personal financial needs and corporate governance have no significant effect on the potential risk of financial crime. Simultaneously, personal financial needs, corporate governance, and economic instability have a significant effect on the potential risk of financial crime. This research is important for academics to understand about financial distortion or crime. For investors or potential investors, this research can also be used to be more careful in making investment decisions.
