Abstract

This study aims to see how the form of self-disclosure is carried out by overseas students at the Islamic University of Riau through Instagram Stories on their respective Instagram accounts. The theory used in this research is the Johari Window theory. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. These results indicate that there are four aspects of the Johari Window theory in self- research conducted by nomad students at the Islamic University of Riau. The four aspects are Open Area, Blind Area, Hidden Area and Unknown Area. The largest and most commonly found area is the Open Area. There is a purpose in doing it yourself for nomad students, namely to capture the moment, express yourself, to be known by others, and to share information. In addition, there are also positive and negative impacts after doing self disclosure on Instagram Stories.
