Abstract

This study was conducted at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR), at Kaharudin Nasution Street No. 113 Pekanbaru. The aim of this study is to investigate the strategy of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in developing the quality of Human Resources so that they can compete in the world of work and business. The type of this study is field research with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The informants of this study are: the Dean, the first Vice-Dean and the Heads of Study Programs at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the strategy of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in developing qualified human resources is by implementing all stages of strategic management by Freed R. David, such as formulating strategies, implementing strategies and evaluating strategies. Some of the strategies are: Establishing the Vision and Mission which are the direction and goals of the Faculty, conducting SWOT analysis routinely to identify existing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, upgrading lecturer research, demanding all Lecturers to have doctoral degree, updating the latest curriculum, collaborating with Foreign Universities by conducting MOUs (Memorandum Of Understanding), conducting Re-Accreditation so that faculty quality assurance can be maintained, providing SKPI (Diploma Companion Certificates) for alumni to implement the curriculum by providing students the opportunity directly to enter the world of work and entrepreneurship through Internships and apprenticeship, establishing the Faculty Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) to monitor the quality of learning, building commitment to provide good service to students and optimizing existing facilities and infrastructure.
