Abstract

Students’ interest in learning is an important thing to make the process of teaching and learning run well, because it is an absolute requirement in the teaching and learning process. Based on the previous observation at SMPN 1 Kabun Rokan Hulu Regency, it found that the students’ interest in learning Islamic studies at the eighth grade is still low. The signs of low interest can be seen from the lack of feedback between teachers and students, and the lack of students’ attention when the teachers explain lessons. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is an influence of giving rewards on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 1 Kabun, Rokan Hulu Regency. This is a quantitative study that aims to investigate the influence of giving rewards on students’ interest in learning. The population is 82 Muslim students at the eighth grade. The data collection techniques used are questionnaire and documentation. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of study show that there is an influence of giving rewards on the students' interest in learning Islamic studies at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kabun Rokan Hulu Regency by 52.1% with the category "strong enough", it means that the hypothesis is accepted. While the remaining 100% -52.1% = 47.9% is influenced by other factors.
