Abstract

In petroleum world, mud drilling isi important factor in oil and gas drilling. Composition and charateristic of mud drilling is really effected of a drilling opreation because it show succesfull or not a drilling is dependent in mud drilling. Mud which uses additive base ingredients suchas CMC (Carboxymethil Cellulose) which is useful for binding water and increase viscosity. Therefore researcher use peanut shells which is contains alot of cellulose as additive CMC which is replacement for CMC industry. To compare the CMC industry and peanut shells CMC then testing like viscosity, yield point, gel strenght, plastic viscosity, pH, mud cake and filtration loss volume with each concentration 2 gr, 4 gr, 6 gr, 8 gr, 10 gr. And to know the composition from CMC peanut shells tested by EDS. Based on the test resuls in Islamic University of Riau laboratory, obtained rheology value of peanut shells CMC able to approach the standard of CMC industry is at consentration of 6 gr, 8 gr, and 10 gr, while at that concentration of 2 gr and 4 gr has not been able to get. The composition from peanut shells CMC which is carbon (C) whit a precentage 68.90% and oxygen (O) 31.10%.
