Abstract
Silica sand is one of the abundant materials in indonesia, this research aims to obtain the effect of milling rotation variation smoothness on the silica sand. To reach the smoothess, silica sand need to be processed using a planetary ball mill machine. The analysis of this study includes variations in the rotation of 200, 300 and 400 rpm and 4 hours milling time. Particle size of silica sand determined using SEM – EDX. Subsequently testing the most optimum rotation in research or this experiment is 200 rpm, due to the highest production output 200 mesh at 200 rpm rotation. However, for the most softest paticle size is at 400 rpm at 12 nm – 78 nm. Afterwards sintering heat treatment is carried out at a temperatur of 1200º C with holding time for 4 hours, the result of sintering silica sand has to be blend with PEG, sand that got the blackish brown colored sand turns yellowish brown. Metal and non – metal elements contained in silica sand samples are carbon (C) 6.81%, oxygen (O) 47.39%, aluminum (Al) 0,67%, silicon (Si) 44.79%, and calcium (Ca) 0.35%.
