Abstract

Healthy life in old age id elderly longing for, their healthy is important to increase life expectancy of Indonesian society. Elderly population need interaction with public population which is they need for public social space like public open space this can be elderly park. In 2012 -2103 Pekanbaru was first rank of twelfth regencies/cities in Riau province with highest number of elderly but thus for does not have special park for elderly, Pekanbaru has 20 parks which is spread all over the sub districts. The purpose of this research is to identify the city’s friendly park for elderly in order to provide good social space for the elderly. The approach of this research is combine between quantitative and qualitative which is equipped with descriptive methods, qualitative descriptive method used to identify the condition park existing as an elderly park while the quantitative descriptive method is used to identify the suitability park as elderly friendly park in Pekanbaru. Analysis result of this study known that 7 from 20 parks are including criteria as elderly friendly city park. From 7 park there several thing that should be repaired like accessibility and facilities. Development strategy or elderly friendly city park by improve quality of the park that meet to the criteria of elderly friendly park as well as government and related agencies also have to planning elderly friendly city park in Pekanbaru.
