Abstract
Pekanbaru City has the potential to produce freshwater fish, especially catfish. This study aims to analyze: Characteristics of catfish farmers, cultivation technology, use of production factors, production costs, production and income of catfish farmers, factors that influence catfish production, and the rate of return of catfish products in Pekanbaru City. The method used in this study is the survey method. The study was conducted in Pekanbaru City with three sub-districts, namely Tenayan Raya District, Tampan District and Bukit Raya City District, Pekanbaru. Three sub-districts were chosen on the grounds that this area is a center for catfish production in the city of Pekanbaru. The research was conducted for 6 months, which began in August 2018 until January 2019. The results of the study showed that generally catfish farmers were of productive age from 38-41 years. Education level graduated from high school, business experience in general 4-6 years and the number of dependents of a family of 5 people. The cultivation technology in this research is pond preparation, seed spreading, maintenance and care and harvesting, cultivation technology is not in accordance with the theory. The use of production factors in each production process is 360,28 m2 pool area, 43,641 catfish seeds, 3,861.20 Kg feed and 50,63 HKP labor use. Average production of 4,341 kg / production process. Average production costs Rp. 52,853,826.12 / production process. Average income of Rp. 15,552,673.88 / production process and RCR value of 1.29. Factors that influence the production of catfish in Pekanbaru City are pool area, number of seeds, amount of feed, number of drugs and vitamins, but labor is not significant for catfish production. The level of return to scale of catfish is in Decreasing Return to Scale.
