Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the competence of certified English teachers at Junior High Schools in the Meranti Islands Regency. The type of research used is a descriptive survey with qualitative research methods because the researcher collects data by being used to investigate, find, describe, and explain the quality or features of social influence. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling and snowball sampling, in which the sampling was carried out with certain considerations with a total of 7 informants. The results of the research on the competency analysis of certified English teachers in the Meranti Islands Regency show that the teachers have implemented well the existing competencies including: 1. Social Competence, 2. Personality Competence and, 3. Professional Competence. However, the pedagogical competence is still not implemented properly.
